HPE D6000 Gen9 Base Knowledge.
The D6000 Disk Shelves is a drive-only server. No CPU, no Memory, no Storage controllers. This Disk Shelve can be connected to an Apollo 4500 Server and any HPE Blade servers with the following Storage controllers installed. The Smart Array P421, P431, P441, P822, or the P841 controllers using a standard 2M SAS cable; HPE HBAs H221, H222, and H241 are also supported. This Direct Attached Storage is a great way to expand your system storage while not having to upgrade your system's processors, ram, or networking.
This system comes with Dual I/O Modules, you must fill in the blank I/O slots if you don’t plan to install the Dual I/O Module Kit which enables the Dual Domain configuration. More on this below.

HPE Smart Storage Controllers
RAID is provided by the Smart Array P721m, P731m, P741m, P421, P431, P441, P822 and the P841 Controllers. The D6000 Spec sheet below will have links to all the storage controllers' quick specs pages. To learn more about each controller I suggest looking at each one. Single and Dual Domain environments. Only P822 and P841 support Dual Domain. No zoning.

When you install the HPE D6000 Disk Enclosure Dual I/O Module Kit (QQ696A) when using dual-ported SAS drives will be able to create a dual domain environment.
HPE D6000 Gen9 I/0 Ports
Each D6000 can support 4 I/O Modules that each handle 2 SAS ports. This port allows for direct connection from any of the HPE Blade servers. The server must support one of the storage controllers supported by the D6000 Disk Shelf. You can find this list above or read up on the Blade server you have and see which controller would work best for the Direct connection to the Disk Storage device.

HPE D6000 Gen9 Power and Cooling
This Base System Includes four hot-plug power supplies for n 2 redundancy and four hot-plug fans for n 1 redundancy. The four redundant Hot-Plug Power Supplies have 12V 1200W. When the drawers are pulled out, all the fans will be at full speed.
